Eco-Friendly Products
At Dinette.com we strive to bring you the best products made from sustainable resources — resources that are renewable and easily replenished. That's why all of our solid wood products from Malaysia are manufactured with 100%, plantation-grown, sustainable rubberwood. Malaysian rubberwood has recently become popular because of its abundant availability and the nearly invisible footprint it leaves on the environment.
Rubberwood is grown in abundance in Malaysia. The strict logging and harvesting policies put in place by the country's government have created an eco-friendly and efficient reforestation program and made rubberwood an ideal renewable resource. Where most trees require 50-70 years to mature, rubberwood matures in just 20 years and can be replanted as soon as it's harvested.
Rubberwood has become one of the leading alternative resources in the world today because of the dual purpose it serves. While the wood is crafted for a variety of uses, the tree's sap is used to manufacture latex. And because the trees are harvested only after they've reached the end of their latex-producing cycle, none of the tree goes to waste. Measures such as these ensure that the planet's ecological balance is maintained for years to come.
In addition to using only the most environmentally friendly resources, all of the finishes on our dinette sets are water-based, and all outer packaging is made with recycled paper products.
The Enduring Quality of Rubberwood
Rubberwood is indigenous to Southwest Asia and in the past 30 years has become a valuable component of the American furniture industry. Rubberwood is very similar to American oak but denser, allowing for excellent carving and shaping. As a hardwood, it possesses a high resistance to dents and scratches. And its natural light color and attractive grain provide the versatility to accommodate any decor.
Today, rubberwood is found in every room, from kitchen countertops to solid wood bedroom furniture. Grown in a tropical environment, it's naturally more durable and sustains moist environments better than other woods. Its low resistance to shrinkage makes for stable and sturdy construction, while its relatively straight grains provide a cohesive and uniform design, making it the perfect choice for your home.
